Organic Assam Black (Assam, India)

A long leaf tippy golden flowery orange pekoe tea, produces a bright golden coppery color liquid with thick, full bodied character and brisk malty flavor. This organic tea is from the Assam region of India. Assam’s tea growing conditions are perfect for tea with temperatures reaching up to 100 degrees Fahrenheit. The high temperatures along with the Brahmaputra River create a natural greenhouse effect for tea growing. The finest teas in Assam were selected for this tea.

Organic Belseri Black (Assam, India)

This tea is a fine example of tippy golden flowery orange pekoe grade tea which is aromatic and full-bodied. The Belseri tea estate in Assam lies on the banks of the Brahmaputra river and is classed as a Natureorganic® garden. Best brewed for 3 to 4 minutes and served black or with milk.

Organic Makaibari Black (Darjeeling, India)

A well balanced combination of fruit and flower aroma, particularly passion and sweet banana with a subtle herb background, characterize this delicate fine tippy golden flowery orange pekoe grade tea. Best brewed for 3 to 4 minutes and served black. Founded in 1859 Makaibari is a fourth generation family run Darjeeling tea estate under the ownership of Rajah Banerjee. This tea is part of the Rajah collection and is the finest lot of the 1st Flush season. Makaibari is the first organic and bio dynamic estate of Darjeeling.

Organic RisheehatPuttamong Black (Darjeeling, India)

Chocolaty and floral, with a medium-strength golden brew. This Darjeeling tea has darker flavors than the classic first flush (spring-picked) Darjeeling tea. This is from the magnificent Risheehat tea estate and this 635 acre estate has been cultivated for decades producing some of the finest teas in the world. This is an Autumnal or second flush tea, meaning it was harvested in Indian summer. This is a fine tippy golden flowery orange pekoe grade tea.

Organic Korakundah Black (Nilgiri, India)

This orange pekoe grade tea is bright, with brisk liquors, and a smoothly rounded mellow flavor. Its taste is complex and floral, satisfying on more than one level. It goes well with milk, but is also wonderful without. This tea is from Korakundah estate in the central Nilgiri Mountains, is arguably the highest tea estate in the world at 8,000 feet above the sea level. Dedicated to organic production in a pristine environment, cool nighttime mists and sunny days produce a distinctive full bodied tea.

Black Teas From China

Organic Keemun (Qimen, China)

This Keemun tea has slender black leaves that are tightly curled and yield a full-bodied tea with a flowery bouquet. Its brown infusion features a deep, winey quality, with a slightly sweet juiciness. Because of these qualities, Keemuns are often compared to Burgundy wines. Grown and manufactured in the neighboring Jiangxi Province, this Keemun is a prime example of high-quality organic black tea. This distinctive organic Chinese tea originally hailed from the Quimen County of Huangshan Shi, in China’s eastern Anhui province. This organic loose tea consists of large, elegantly twisted leaves.

Organic Royal Golden Yunnan (Jing Mai Mangjing, China)

This organic tea from China is quite tippy, rich with golden buds and large, delicately twisted leaves. The full-bodied infusion is deep red with a molasses-like sweetness, a subtle milkiness and light coppery finish. This exquisite organic black tea hails from the Jing Mai Mangjing region of China’s southwestern Yunnan province, made from the 1300-year-old organic tea trees found there – some of the oldest living tea trees in the world. The people of Jing Mai Mangjing’s high mountain tea villages climb their ancient tea trees to harvest the new growth leaves and buds used to create this tea.

Organic LapsangSouchong (Wuyi Shan, China)

The large tea leaves are smoked by a unique pine process to produce an amber cup with a mellow smoky flavor. LapsangSouchong is not for the faint of heart, you either like it, or you don’t! From the Wuyi Shan region in the Fujian Province of China comes this pine smoked black tea, giving it a distinctive flavor and aroma, sometimes referred to as tarry. It has a light body, with a smooth crisp character and a very prominent, heady aroma of a pine wood fire. LapsangSouchong is generally consumed with sugar, milk and/or lemon.

The medium-sized, tightly -rolled leaves of this organic pu-erh render a rich, dark brown infusion, with mellow earthiness and good body. This superior-quality loose grade pu-erh teas manufactured using the Shu Cha or “cooked” method of production. This organic Chinese tea comes from the Jing Mai Mangjing region of China’s southwestern Yunnan province, made from the 1300-y ear-old organic tea trees found there – some of the world’s oldest living tea trees. Puerh tea benefits have been well-known for centuries as being potent in the areas of blood cholesterol lowering, as well as in proper digestion and general well-being and longevity.

Black Teas From Other Regions

Organic Bolivian Black (Bolivia)

This tea has very large 2″ to 3″ jet black leaves. The resulting brew is bright amber cup with a garden-like aroma. This tea is also full-bodied and produces an apricot peach after taste. The Yungas of La Pax, part of the watershed of the Bolivian Amazon, is a region of rich valleys and cloud shrouded peaks. Bolivian teas are grown on the high slopes where the Amazon Basin meets the Andes. This rare location, where cool air from the Andean snowcapped peaks combines with warm moist air from the Amazon, has produced unique teas with extraordinary flavor and a distinctive aroma for over seventy years.

Kenya Malaika Black (Kenya)

The beautifully medium black twisted leaves contain some marvelous looking tippy leaves of various white & golden hues producing a bright amber cup with a heady aroma. The tea has a strong, full-bodied taste with delicious citrus tones. This tea is from the Malaika tea factory serving 680 small-scale tea farmers in Kenya. The factory is located just south of the Mt Kenya National Park at an elevation of 5,446 ft above sea level. In the Swahili language, Malaika means Angel.

Organic Ceylon Black (Sri Lanka)

Organic Russian Caravan Smoky (China)

This is a blend of organic Chinese black or keemun and organic smoked LapsangSouchang tea to produce a rich medium-bodied cup with a generous dose of smoky aroma, but does not mask the organic black tea flavor. Aptly named “Russian Caravan,” this blend is reminiscent of the long tea caravans that traversed Asia centuries ago, scenting their cargo by their nightly campfires.

Decaffeinated Black Teas

Organic Decaf English Breakfast Bold Leaf (Nilgiri, India)

Given very delicate nature of the tea leaves, decaffeination process often kills the flavor but not with this tea blend. This decaf tea is manufactured using an absolutely chemical-free, all natural state-of-the art carbon-dioxide decaffeination process. This leaves come from three of the best estates in the Nilgiri region: Burnside, Chamraj and Korakundah. The teas using CO2 process are twice as expensive as the water process decaf teas.
